The major Nottingham employer changed the rules on when its employees could claim a full pension
Boots has been warned that it could face "reputational damage" as legal advice is sought on changes the company made to its pension scheme. Former employees of the Nottingham-based firm previously told Nottinghamshire Live that their savings had been "wiped out" by a sudden rule change affecting when they could draw down a full pension.
The PDA now claims that the rules on the pension scheme were changed on the day that Legal & General's buyout was announced to members of the scheme. The organisation also says this rule change has only just been disclosed to members. "It is inconceivable that the company would treat its long-serving, highly skilled, and loyal pharmacists like this at a time when the role of pharmacists in delivering the nation's health care has never been more important. We call upon the company to urgently meet with us to find a solution that protects our members' rights and allows the buyout to proceed."
