Boris Johnson did not deny claims he is planning to scrap limits on how much wealthy city bankers can earn as he clashed with Sir Keir Starmer at PMQs.

leader confronted the prime minister over reports that he wants to get rid the cap on fat cat bonuses while calling for a pay restraint for everyone else.

Sir Keir raised the issue in the House of Commons today, saying: ‘This week his treasury minister said there’s a society wide responsibility for people to take a pay cut.‘Come on, only one of them can be right, is it his Treasury minister who says every worker needs a pay cut or is it his chief of staff who says every banker needs a pay rise?’

Nurses are expected to be offered a 3% rise, which unions argue amounts to a £1,600 real-terms cut because of the rising cost of living.
