Boxing promoter Ben Shalom reveals Lawrence Okolie's next fight before he leaves cruiserweight behind

Boxing promoter Ben Shalom has predicted Lawrence Okolie will fight Richard Riakporhe later this year before both men move up in weight.on March 25 at Manchester Arena.with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing relating to his promotional status, which is yet to be resolved.

In the meantime, he’s been ordered to face Light in a fight that will take place on an upcoming BOXXER show after they won the purse bids for the mandated clash. On Thursday, Shalom insisted he is delighted to be working with Okolie and is excited to promote the 18-0 fighter as he hunts more titles and prepares to test himself at heavyweight. He told talkSPORT’s White and Jordan: “[Okolie] is one of the most talented fighters in Britain. He’s one of our only world champions. We’ve been waiting a long time to announce him and he defends his world title on March 25th.

“He’s just joined up with SugarHill [Steward], who also trains Ben Whittaker and Tyson Fury, which I think is an interesting move, a good move out to Miami. “There’s so much interest now in Lawrence Okolie and what he does next. Rightfully or wrongfully, a lot of controversy surrounding him but we are just delighted to have him. He wants to unify this year, go up to heavyweight and be a real problem.”Shalom was in the talkSPORT studio with Adam Azim to promote his latest fight card
