Shoppers shared their frustration
A 13-year-old boy was threatened with a machete and told "don't try to follow us or we will cut you up" by thugs.
The other boys, believed to be around 16-year-olds, then when up to the schoolboy and said "give me your bike or I will stab". He then flashed his waistband to show he was carrying a machete. The dad said the 13-year-old had only had the Specialised Status 140 bike for two months and was "his pride and joy". He added he wanted to make other people aware as other children might not be as "clued up" as his son to give the bike up.
Detective Inspector David Sung said: “This was a frightening incident for the young victims to experience. I urge anyone who was in the vicinity at around 5pm [Tuesday] and may have noticed something suspicious to please contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice.
