San Antonio quarterback Kurt Benkert has been placed on the reserve list due to a rib injury suffered Saturday against Vegas and will miss the rest of the season, coach Hines Ward said Tuesday, continuing the Brahmas’ shuffle at quarterback.
“Playing four quarterbacks in seven games isn’t your ideal way of how you would imagine things would go during the season, but we’re a resilient team,” Ward said. “Our guys keep fighting their tails off.” He played through the discomfort until late in the fourth quarter, when a hit from behind dropped him to a knee and left him grabbing at the left side of his chest. He posted to Twitter on Monday that he had been diagnosed with three fractured ribs.
