Brian Whitelock has been found guilty of murdering Wendy Buckney, whom he attacked in her home with a kitchen knife and other household items. The jury took only 30 minutes to reach its verdict following a two-week trial.
He savagely stabbed her with a kitchen knife, as well as beat her with a broken table leg and wooden shelving in her own home.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Davies said: “We are pleased to hear of the guilty verdict, concluding what has been a thorough investigation into Brian Whitelock’s senseless murder of his defenceless victim. Prosecutor Christopher Rees KC told the court Whitelock has a "propensity to use explosive and disproportionate violence".
Jurors heard that despite his initial admission, Whitelock changed his story a few days later and claimed he had found Wendy injured. But the prosecutor told jurors his previous convictions would help them understand "the nature of the man you're dealing with."
