In Bridgerton season 2, Pen and Colin’s relationship takes a turn for the worst because of Colin’s oblivious behavior, but season 3 can fix him.
In Bridgerton season 1, Colin Bridgerton was introduced as a sweet, caring man who is most significantly the best friend and crush of Penelope Featherington, however, in season 2, Colin's obliviousness to Pen turns him into a character that is much harder to like. While the first two seasons followed the romances of Daphne and Simon and Anthony and Kate respectively, Bridgerton season 3 is set to follow Pen and Colin as they finally, hopefully, fall in love.
During the season, Colin is clearly ignorant of Penelope's feelings, but usually treats her as the close friend that he sees her as. He confides in her and expresses his non-romantic adoration of her. These moments not only keep her love afloat, but they also give the audience faith that, despite his infatuation with Marina, he will eventually come to see Penelope in a romantic capacity.
