French forward Georginio Rutter has got a big decision to make about his future
Leeds United star Georginio Rutter is the subject of a £40m transfer bid from Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion. It has emerged that the Seagulls have activated a release clause in Rutter's contract and it is now up to the player to decide whether or not to proceed with the proposed transfer.
Rutter has been involved in United's opening two fixtures of the 2024/25 season. He was introduced as a second half substitute last night as Daniel Farke's side crashed out of the Carabao Cup, losing 3-0 in the first round to Middlesbrough. It would be a major blow to the Whites' promotion hopes if Rutter does leave Elland Road. The mercurial forward sparkled last term, registering six goals and racking up 16 assists in the Championship to help United finish third in the table.
United have already seen Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville move on to pastures new this summer, with the latter departing after his own £25m release clause was met by West Ham United earlier this month. Farke's side return to action on Saturday when they travel to West Bromwich Albion but remains to be seen whether Rutter will be involved in the clash at The Hawthorns.
