The British Navy will accompany UK ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz after the US killing of Iran's most senior military commander
From CNN's Kevin BohnFirst, Pence raised confusion when he said 10 of the 12 hijackers were assisted by Soleimani. His spokesman, Katie Waldman, later clarified he was only speaking of the 12 hijackers who transited through Afghanistan and didn’t mean to indicate there were only 12 hijackers in total.
Pence and his office still maintain 10 of the hijackers were aided by Soleimani. The 9/11 Commission found strong evidence that Iran did facilitate travel to Afghanistan of 8 of 10 Saudi hijackers but added “We have found no evidence that Iran or Hezbollah was aware of the planning for what later became the 9/11 attack. At the time of their travel through Iran, the Al Qaeda operatives themselves were probably not aware of the specific details of their future operation.
CNN National Security Analyst Peter Bergen reiterates there is no evidence that has been presented that Iran did know of the 9/11 plot at the time and didn’t know these men would turn out to be hijackers. Bergen also notes there has been no proof from any of the investigations of the attacks to indicate that Iran helped the hijackers who actually did spend time in Iran itself.share with Facebook
