Soaring temperatures across Europe sparks warning
UK holidaymakers in Europe have been issued a stark warning about an "extreme" risk of wildfires due to soaring temperatures. Those who've travelled from the UK to European Union destinations are being alerted to a "high" risk of severe wildfires across the continent.
Paris is also set to experience a heatwave with temperatures predicted to hit 36C today, around 10C above the average for this time of year. The fire danger map reveals alarming shades of dark orange and deep red across Europe, stretching from Portugal in the west, through parts of southern France, most of Italy, swathes of Croatia, and much of Montenegro, Albania, Greece, and Turkey. On the Greek island of Evia, near Athens, evacuations have been ordered in areas close to a wildfire.
