Published:U.S. Sen. Katie Britt put a twist on a common Southern phrase after learning she was among 500 Americans banned from Russia on Friday.

“It was just announced that Putin has banned me from Russia. I’d say bless his heart, but he doesn’t have one,” Britt tweeted in response to the move by Russia’s foreign ministry.are U.S. Rep. Dale Strong, R-Huntsville, President Obama and late night hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers.

Russia said it took the action because the U.S. did not grant visas to media traveling with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to the United Nations, adding that it also again denied Washington’s request for the American embassy in Moscow to visit theBritt and Strong are not the only Alabamians banned from setting foot on Russian soil.

Last year, Russia banned seven members of Alabama’s congressional delegation from the country: Reps. Robert Aderholt, R-Haleyville’ ex-Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Huntsville; Rep. Jerry Carl, R-Mobile; Rep.
