The Browns initially believed that Pocic, 27, had priced himself out of Cleveland after an excellent 2022 season and would walk in free agency, but they agreed to terms with him Monday on a 3-year deal.
The No. 9 center in the NFL IN 2022 according to Pro Football Focus, Pocic stated at the end of the season he wanted to re-sign here, and he got his wish.
A five-year veteran of the Seahawks with 53 starts under his belt, Pocic was an excellent free agent pickup for the Browns last season, and an incredible bargain at $1.187 million. Coached by one of the best offensive line experts in the NFL in Bill Callahan, Pocic flourished here last season and played some of the best ball of his career.
If Pocic had signed elsewhere, the Browns were prepared to turn the starting job back over the 2020 fifth-round pick Nick Harris, who suffered a season-ending knee injury on the second play of the preseason opener in Jacksonville. According to ESPN Stats and info, Pocic ranked fifth in the NFL among centers in pass block win rate last season and fourth in run block win rate .
