Bruce Canepa's museum is more than just Porsche 959s.
. He's also a former racing driver, truck builder, and world class car collector. He currently lends his name to the Canepa Motorsport Museum, an interdisciplinary collection of iconic cars from the worlds of sports car, open wheel, drag, stock car, dirt, and motorcycle racing.
That collection is headlined by three separate Porsche 917s, including the overall winner of the 1970 24 Hours of Daytona. Two other 917s, one a short-tail 917k adorned in a Gulf livery and another an open-top 917/10 Can-Am racer, sit in the collection alongside a factory-run Porsche 962C that briefly led the 1985 24 Hours of Le Mans.the only R15 in private hands
. That crucial part of Audi's racing history struggled through its debut 2009 season, but a major refresh for a new rule set in 2010 led to a 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans. Outside of sports cars, the collection includes a Dale Earnhardt-run Chevrolet Monte Carlo stock car, an Arie Luyendyk-run Lola IndyCar, and a Don Prudhomme-run Shelby Super Snake dragster. On the more unique side, the museum is also currently displaying a 2005 gravity racer built by Volvo and a Porsche-powered Pikes Peak open wheel special raced by Canepa in 1980.
