Helford was an executive producer on the hit ABC comedy series, on which Macdonald was a writer for about a year before he left to joinDuring Macdonald’s 1993-98 tenure on the NBC sketch show, he guest starred on Helford’s ABC comedy series, he teamed with Helford to co-create and executive produce, a multi-camera comedy series headlined by the comedian and also starring Roseanne’s Laurie Metcalf, which ran on ABC for three seasons.
