The latest Nottingham Forest news as reports claim that Chelsea did show late interest in the Nottingham Forest striker in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi is ‘miles off’ being good enough to be able to play for Chelsea, according to former defender Glen Johnson.
Awoniyi has caught the eye with his goalscoring at the end of last season and at the start of the current campaign. Since the dramatic 4-3 win over Southampton back in May, the striker has scored nine goals in eight Premier League games.READ MORE: Nottingham Forest failed transfer detailed as £25m claim emerges
Despite that, it seems that Awoniyi has not impressed Johnson enough for him to think that Chelsea should make a move for him. “Definitely not at the moment,” he told GGRecon when asked if he could play for a club like Chelsea. “I’m not trying to be disrespectful to him, but at this moment he’s miles off playing for a club like Chelsea. There’s a big difference between playing well for Nottingham Forest and playing well for one of the top teams in the Premier League.
