Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston recalls a funny story in which he and costar Aaron Paul ate fake blue crystal meth on set. First airing on AMC in 2008, Breaking Bad would go on widely to be considered one of the best TV shows of all time. The series, which is created by Vince Gilligan, features Cranston playing high school chemistry teacher Walter White, who teams up with former student Jesse to cook meth after a terminal cancer diagnosis.
Although Walt makes and regularly handles his signature blue meth on the show, the actor reveals that it wasn't until some encouragement from Paul that he actually tried it. Check out Cranston's full recollection of events below: He goes, ‘I’m getting so tired.’ I said, ‘You’re really getting a high off this?’ It’s like, ‘Well, it’s sugar.’ And he goes, ‘You’ve tasted it.’ I go, ‘No, I haven’t tasted it.’ He goes, ‘Oh, you should taste it.’ I go, ‘No, I don’t think so.’ And I guess I was still in character because Walter White wouldn’t. And he goes, ‘You gotta have one. [In Jesse’s voice] Yo, have one,’ is what he would say. And so, ‘All right, to shut you up…’ I tasted one and it was like, ‘That’s pretty good.
