Jack Wood wanted to open a farm shop for villagers who live half an hour away from the nearest supermarket
A butcher who hoped to open a shop to provide fresh local produce for people who live 30 minutes from the nearest supermarket has been refused planning permission.
Almost 17% of Weir's population are pensioners with Mr Wood arguing that the village is "chronically underserved by local facilities that are accessible for non-drivers". He hoped to provide the village's only retail shop aimed at those who are unable to drive to neighbouring towns. However, a decision notice published by the council reveals that planning permission to change the use of the land has been refused.
