Aided by two penalties that helped sustain the drive, Hightower scored on its opening possession. Jeremy Payne punched in a 2-yard run to give the Hurricanes a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Following another Panthers interception, this one by Hicks, King closed out the first-half scoring with a 12-yard touchdown by Willis.
