Stroud announced that he would be awarding the entire Ohio State football team with $500 gift cards from the clothing company Express to buy suits ahead of Saturday’s game against Notre Dame.
l with Express in the offseason and have already done a few advertising things this summer. The team gift cards are the latest example of the company partnering with the athletes for advertisements while also providing a way for Stroud to do a nice gesture for his teammates.
“I’ve been impressed with his approach his maturity,” Day said. “That’s just an example of something that he wanted to do. Nobody asked me to do that and he kind of surprised me. that’s the brotherhood and that’s what it’s all about. “You don’t typically come to Ohio State because of the guys on the team. A lot of times, you don’t really even know who the guys are on the team when you’re here. But then once you’re here, the reason you play so hard, what motivates you or your teammates that just goes to show you in a short period of time, how close this team has become and C.J. has really become a leader.”
Ohio State has often worn suits on gamedays but has adopted a more casual sweatsuit attire the last two seasons. Stroud’s gift suggests we could see the team return to the formal look on Saturday for the primetime game against the Irish.
