Cougars upend top-seeded Concordia Irvine, advance to next week's World Series
SIxth-seeded Cal State San Marcos scored three runs in the sixth inning as part of a come-from-behind, 4-3 win over top-seeded Concordia Irivine in Friday’s Division II West Regional Championship in Irvine.
San Marcos trailed 3-1 in the sixth when Bianca Gutierrez reached, advanced to third base and then scored on a wild pitch. An errant throw to the plate led Klarissa Moore to score from third. Madison Waymire then belted a home run to make it 4-3.Jayline Sloss earned her fifth consecutive win of the NCAA Tournament, striking out four while allowing three runs on five hits over six innings. Savannah Coyle closed it out for San Marcos.
