California and other Democratic states are fighting at the Supreme Court against a West Virginia law that bans biological men from participating in women’s sports.
Skateboarder Taylor Silverman and brand marketing expert Bryan Kramer diverge on Bud Light's partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, as some conservatives call for a boycott of the beer brand.
"Preventing transgender elementary kids from living regular lives through legislative action is absurd and dangerous," Bonta said in a statement."No child should be denied the opportunity to have a normal childhood or play school sports because of their gender." When the state law was passed in 2021, it was immediately met with a lawsuit from the ACLU, which represented Becky Pepper-Jackson, a transgender middle school student who was barred from joining the girls' cross-country team.
The ACLU appealed that decision to the Fourth Circuit, and also asked for an injunction, meaning a pause before the law takes effect while the lawsuit plays out.
