It had been rumoured that the latest title in the franchise would just be an expansion of last year’s Modern Warfare 2. There were some reports that its premium annual launch showcasing its new title would be ditched to reflect this change.
The title was also listed as an Add-On on video game store Steam, implying it would be a piece of additional content for its predecessor. However, developer Activision has finally clarified what the game will be like.It has confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will be a full fledged game in its own right, shutting down any claims to the contrary.
This means the UK price will be around £55. The developers also clarified that the game is listed as an Add-On because all Call of Duty games will be an add-on for the Call of Duty HQ app going forward, meaning gamers will be able to play all of the games via the app. The game comes at an uncertain time for the company. Microsoft's attempts to buy Activision Blizzard had led some to conclude that the game would be an Xbox exclusive.
