Canelo reveals John Ryder is the best of the British boxers he's faced throughout his career
In 2016, Canelo managed back to back stoppage wins over BritsAnd after making the move up to super middleweight, Canelo conquered Liam’s brother Callum, as well as KOing Rocky Fielding and Billy Joe Saunders.
But, none of these fighters gave Canelo a tougher fight than Ryder according to the Mexican, as he said in his post-fight interview: “For them it’s a win, not getting knocked out, right? “But, look we need to give him his credit, he came in to fight. His preparation was very good and I respect the fight he did.
“He’s strong and he did everything in the ring and that’s what I expect because I saw him fighting with the other guys and he’s tough.”Canelo was then asked whether Ryder is the best Brit he has fought and he replied: “I think so, yeah.
“He couldn’t get me out of there. His plan was to stop me, he didn’t. I know I took a great shot in the fifth round, but I came back swinging and I had some good rounds after that.”
