Police have released a statement
A large number of cannabis plants have been discovered growing in a property. On Sunday, June 11, Nottinghamshire Police executed a warrant on a property in Orange Gardens, The Meadows at around 12:20pm.
Concerns had been raised about constant noises from fans and other equipment at the property, with concerns also raised about the welfare of a man living in the house. Whilst raiding the property, officers found a large number of cannabis plants growing in two bedrooms. A 21 year old, who was found by officers inside the house, has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the production of a Class B drug. Sergeant Richard Hunter, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Residents living nearby have had to put up with constant noise, people visiting at all times of the day and night and understandably had concerns about what was happening inside the address.
“Cannabis production is far from harmless. It often has links to wider, serious criminality and invariably involves vulnerable people being exploited to work as gardeners for the grows in appalling conditions. If you have similar concerns about a property close to where you live, please get in touch with officers.
“If anyone has any information which could help with our investigation, please call police on 101, quoting incident number 309 of 11 June 2023, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.” All of the cannabis seized from the address will be destroyed and the equipment used to power the grow has been removed.
