'Captain' had no idea shooting which killed Aya Hachem was taking place, court hears
A man accused of being the 'middleman' in a botched shooting which killed student 19-year-old student Aya Hachem in Blackburn has told court he had nothing to do with the murder plot.
Mr Khan had clashed with neighbouring business owner Feroz Suleman, who ran RI Tyres next door when Mr Khan started offering tyre services in 2019. Tensions rose between the pair and in 2020, Suleman resorted to hiring hit man Zamir Raja, 33, to kill Mr Khan.On May 17, Raja travelled to Blackburn in a car driven by Anthony Ennis to carry out the shooting. But the plan failed when Aya stepped out of the way of two oncoming cyclists.
He said he thought Ennis was alright, but drank too much. He claims he does not know his co-defendant Suleman.
