A car involved in an early-morning crash, which claimed the life a teenage boy and injured five others, had come to the attention of Gardaí beforehand.Four other occupants of the car in which the deceased was a passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash. They included the driver, a male youth in his teens, and three other passengers - an adult male aged in his teens, a female youth aged in her teens and a male youth.
CorkBeo reports that one of the cars involved in the collision had come to the attention of Gardaí prior to the fatal crash. It's understood the incident has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman, GSOC, because a vehicle involved in the collision was "subject to an interaction" with Gardaí shortly beforehand."Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information to come forward to them," a Garda spokesperson told The Irish Mirror.
"Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have video footage is asked to contact Gardaí. "Gardaí can be contacted at Mitchelstown Garda Station on 025 84833, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
