'She loved children. Children were her life'
Tributes have been paid to a caring foster mum who transformed the lives of more than 40 children and gave them a loving home.
Her daughter, Lesley, said: “She loved children. Children were her life. She kept all of the little family portraits the children drew and she kept their school reports. May looked after William Robson for many years, who had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, since he was one-years-old and he was in a wheelchair. The family affectionately called him ‘Bill Short’. Danny was an avid motorbike racer and he took part in countless motorbike racing competitions over the years all over the country, including the TT races in the Isle of Man. Some of his sons also joined the races.When she retired from fostering she enjoyed socialising. In her later years she met Tommy and the couple enjoyed travelling to Benidorm and also to Bulgaria where the bought a house.
