An enthralling five-set battle!
Carlos Alcaraz is hoping to clinch his third Grand Slam singles title Carlos Alcaraz edged past Jannik Sinner in an enthralling five-set battle on Friday to reach the French Open final for the first time in his career. Alcaraz and Sinner, seeded third and second at Roland-Garros respectively, turned up in Paris as two of the biggest favourites and met in a very tense semi-final.
Alcaraz, looking to lift his maiden French Open trophy and register his third major title in total to date, will face Alexander Zverev or Casper Ruud in the 2024 final. Desperate to follow in the footsteps of his biggest idol Nadal, a triumph at Roland-Garros would be a major achievement if Alcaraz wins the final on Sunday. It would mean major titles on all three surfaces, with the French Open played on clay while he’s already won Wimbledon on grass and the US Open on hard courts.
