Carlos Correa's Astros tenure is over after he agrees to a stunning new deal with the Minnesota Twins

Correa could be a free agent again as early as next season at age 28, perhaps still searching for the long-term deal he did not find this winter. His departure ends a spectacular seven-season tenure in Houston, one that took him from prized wunderkind to playoff hero to team leader. Correa's $35.1 million average annual value is the highest ever given to an infielder, surpassing Anthony Rendon's $35 million with the Los Angeles Angels. Rendon signed a seven-year, $245 million contract in 2019. Correa is now the fourth-highest paid player in the sport, trailing pitchers Max Scherzer and Gerrit Cole, another former Astro, as well as outfielder Mike Trout.
