The BBC understands that a young girl has died following a crash in Carrickfergus, County Antrim

A second child, understood to be her brother, was taken to The Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children by ambulance.The NI Ambulance Service said it received a 999 call at 11:40 BST following reports of a traffic accident in the High Street area."We are dealing with the overwhelming grief. We have the loss of a child and another in hospital," he told BBC News NI.High Street in Carrickfergus remains closed.
A police spokesperson advised people to seek alternative routes for their journeys to avoid the area.
