Castle Hills petitioners want voters to have a say on financing for $9.3M of street, drainage repairs

Castle Hills is delaying the issuance of over $9 million in certificates of obligation for street and drainage repairs after a petition was submitted requesting the city put it to a public vote.Voters in Castle Hills could determine the fate of $9.3 million in funding for street and drainage improvements in November if petitioners get their way.
“I have nothing against taxes spent for capital improvements, but I strongly disagree with a council making this decision on their own,” Wynn said. “We need taxpayer approval. That is what taxation with representation is all about.” Rapelye said holding an election in November will cost the city approximately $7,000, the same amount it allocates for its annual May council election.
