CBS' Jay Wright on returning to Houston, site of his Final Four glory, and this year's unusual field

The last time the Final Four was at NRG Stadium, Jay Wright was cutting down the net after his Villanova team beat North Carolina in one of college basketball's greatest championship finishes.Houston no doubt has a special place in Jay Wright’s heart as the site of arguably his most memorable basketball moment. The Hall of Fame coach, who retired after last season, will be part of CBS’ studio crew for the network’s coverage of the Final Four on Saturday and Monday at NRG Stadium.

“I’m looking forward to enjoying the nice weather and seeing Houston. I didn’t really see any of it . It was funny, we would go outside and it would be so beautiful out and you’d be outside for like 10 seconds and get right on the bus. It was a really secluded experience. I’m looking forward to seeing it all from a different perspective.”

“I think it’s great,” Wright said. “I think if you had bluebloods every year, it would kind of ruin the incentive for the other teams. … It’s good that it happens every now and then. “I don’t think it’d be smart to call a dominant favorite,” Wright said. “Each one of these teams, you can see a path for them winning this against each other.”
