Girls: “Tiny but mighty” sophomore leads St. Francis to CCS D-II crown
“We had 19 at the half and 18 in the third quarter,” St. Francis coach Mike Motil said. “Sometimes we struggle offensively against bigger teams, but our defense is really good. A lot of our games have been in the ’40s.” For Los Altos , guard Tara Davari scored 11 points, Natalie Holm added 11 points, and forward Macy Watson finished with seven.
Michelle Tang led the way with 28 points, making six 3-pointers. Chloe Lee scored 18. and also made six shots from behind the 3-point arc to account for all her scoring. Serena Mezzetta added 10 points. The other key to victory was holding Alli Dioli, the star player for No. 2 seed Half Moon Bay, to nine points, 10 below her season average. In a 54-51 overtime win in the semifinals over Notre Dame-Belmont, Dioli had 36 points and eight 3-pointers.
