The former Hoops hero reckons this weekend's semi final ties could have a big impact on the Scottish Cup title race.
The Scottish Cup semi-finals are important in their own right as there is a trophy at stake for the four remaining teams.
Those traits are in short supply at Ibrox right now. Clement is showing signs Glasgow is starting to get to him. His post-match comments after that desperate display in Dundee – when he said he got a response from Ross County and the Dens men were lucky – didn’t wash with fans. They are not daft. Clement talked about the Dundee keeper making saves and shots cleared off the line.
There are still issues in the wide areas at Celtic and they are a team that has played in halves over this year. It was the same against St Mirren last weekend, where it was a bit of a struggle against a team sitting deep until they got the first goal. In the bigger picture the Scottish Cup is one you always want to get your hands on, but the league is the main prize for both Glasgow clubs. If Rangers lose to Hearts but get it together and win the league, Clement will be hailed a hero and the cup won’t be remembered.
Who knows when it comes to Aberdeen. They have finally got their man in Jimmy Thelin and the fact the uncertainty is over could give them a bounce. Everyone knows they have an attacking threat and they have given Celtic some problems this season. I don’t think Celtic can rock up at Hampden and expect a stroll. The same goes for the title race.
