The midfielder won't be in Germany despite an impressive campaign for the Scottish champions.
Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand has SNUBBED Matt O'Riley after the Celtic star was left out the Euro 2024 squad.
The Danes are among the final nations to reveal the list of players they will take to Germany and the 23-year-old has now had it confirmed that he has not made the tournament despite an impressive campaign. O'Riley lifted the Scottish Premiership title and Scottish Cup with the Hoops – as well as sweeping the Celtic player of the year awards.
But boss Hjulmand slapped down the quality of Scottish football in a recent interview - potentially giving OI'Riley a warning that he may not be in the plans. The midfielder will now miss out on the chance to test himself in a group that includes England, Slovenia and Serbia - and add a few zeroes to his transfer valuation with Brighton and Newcastle United being linked - while Spanish giants Atletico Madrid could return after a January swoop was knocked back.
Data from Transfermarkt suggests that O'Riley is now the most valuable player EVER to play in the Premiership despite missing out on the European championships. O'Riley's standout performances both domestically and in the Champions League have reportedly seen the midfielder's current market value rise by €7million in the last 12 months - now standing at €20million.
That is more than when Jota left last season for a sale to Al-Ittihad and Kieran Tierney for Arsenal - who both ended up leaving for £25million. Celtic will likely hold out for a figure north of the mega-money recouped from the two sales.
