Former UH center Kiyron Powell redshirted during the 2021-22 season after playing 14 games as a freshman.Sophomore center Kiyron Powell has left the University of Houston men’s basketball program for personal reasons and will enter the transfer portal, coach Kelvin Sampson said Sunday.
Powell, a 6-10 combination shot blocker and rim protector who signed in 2019, was unable to move up the frontcourt rotation and played in just 14 games, all coming during the Cougars’ Final Four run in 2020-21. He sat out the entire 2021-22 season.Powell’s best game with the Cougars was 11 points and 13 rebounds against Our Lady of the Lake on Feb. 6, 2021.
