That inexperience emerges every so often — sometimes at the expense of victory. In their matchup against 2022 6A state finalist Ponte Vedra in mid-December, the Toros were tied after the first quarter and had the lead in the second before the Sharks went on a run to end the half and go up eight.
They got away from their plan when Ponte Vedra went on a run in the fourth and outscored Tocoi Creek 30-16. The Sharks won 65-40. “It just comes down to, do we really want it.” Livingston said. “How much do we really want it? That’s what’s going to take us to the next step — the effort that we put in.”
