In an interview with Paper Magazine, Cher said she 'never liked' her voice 'that much' and that she wasn't 'a fan' of Cher.
“I just never liked my voice that much. If I had my choice, I probably would have another one, but I didn’t get my choice. I got my mother’s voice,” she told‘s Justin Moran. “It’s weird. It doesn’t sound like a man, it doesn’t sound like a woman. I’m somewhere more in-between.”
“I have this strange style. I do what you do when you can’t hold a note: I don’t pronounce my Rs,” she added. “I guess some consonants are hard to sing, so I just gotta leave them open.” The singer continued by saying that because “people seem to like it,” she’s “happy as a clam,” but she would’ve opted for a different voice than the one she has. She thinks it’s similar to her mom’s voice, though hers was “softer, mine is edgier.”“I’ve made so many albums, and some of the ones I thought were as good as I could like an album of mine weren’t hits,” she said. “And then other ones that I was not that excited about . But my career has been like this“So I like this album.
Among the tracks that she was surprised by how they were received were “Song for the Lonely” and “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me.” She also namedwas a really good album, but it just didn’t happen,” she said. “Yeah, there are songs on it that I like, but it doesn’t make any difference because it’s not what I like, it’s what people like.”Cher recently revealed she is ready to pack her bags being potentially re-elected. “I almost got an ulcer the last time,” Cher replied.
