Chery is so confident of its success in Europe that it is already thinking of establishing a local factory
Chery Automobile will introduce three new brands across Europe over the coming two years and launch a host of compelling new SUVs.is readying the launch of the Omoda and Jaecoo brands in all major markets across Europe, including the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, and France. Its upcoming, Chery Europe managing director Jochen Tueting revealed that the Omoda and Jaecoo brands will each launch three SUVs by the end of 2025.
Tueting isn’t concerned about potential tariffs that could be placed on EVs manufactured in China and sold in Europe. In fact, Chery is so confident that its new brands will perform well that it may be able to decide on a potential European assembly plant as soon as 2024. “Wherever we get confidence from the market that we can sell proper volumes, that’s for us the indication we should have local production as well,” he noted. Chery already operates 10 assembly plants outside of China but is not yet sure if it will buy an existing plant from a legacy maker or build its own plant in Europe.
