West Side faith leaders continue their efforts to ban the proud boys and other hate groups from the Chicago Police Department by hosting a monthly meeting on Tuesday.
Chicago Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez called for hearings afterAlderman Chris Taliaferro joined the Leaders Network at their monthly meeting to discuss possible next steps.
"The Chicago Police Department has zero tolerance for any of its members associated with or being members of hate groups," a CPD spokesperson said in a statement Tuesday. Faith and political leaders are calling on the Chicago Police Department to do an audit of its force and remove any found members of hate groups.
Officer Robert Bakker is serving a 120-day suspension after allegations were made against him, according to CPD. "We do have the ability to ask for an independent audit and an investigation into those allegations," Alderman Chris Taliaferro said. Alderman Sigcho-Lopez has introduced a resolution calling on the Public Safety Committee to hold hearings on this issue.that I have read and agree
