The birds circle through skies over urban and suburban regions and are most easily seen flying after dawn or at dusk to gobble up abundant flying insects most active at that time. A female chimney swift constructs her nest against a rough vertical surface using small twigs molded into the shape of a half saucer and glued to the surface with her salvia.Chicks hatch in about 18 days and leave the nest in 30 days to fly with their parents..
