Warners’ veteran ’toon titan prepares to cap Dreamworks Animation's “How to Train Your Dragon” franchise. Chris DeFaria was recognized as part of 2018's Variety500 presented by VZMediaPlatform
Long a Warners exec, DeFaria took the newly created position of president of DreamWorks Feature Animation in early 2017, tapped with guiding a remake of the cartoon studio after its purchase by Comcast. He oversees all aspects of feature animation, from slate strategy to business affairs. He had been at Warner Bros.
for 20 years, starting as VP of physical production and moving on to president, animation and technology innovation. In 2006, Warners converged the animation, digital and VFX departments, and he became executive VP of digital production and animation. DreamWorks currently has six films under way, including the eagerly awaited “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World,” “Abominable” and “Trolls 2.
