He called Mr Johnson a 'genuinely' honest man
Northamptonshire MP Chris Heaton-Harris put forward a tough defence of Boris Johnson yesterday, March 5, calling him a "genuinely" honest man in the face of accusations he lied to parliament four times. But he also admitted the former Prime Minister was "a law unto himself in many ways".
READ MORE: Trial of Northampton teacher accused of murdering boyfriend buried in her garden to begin this week Mr Heaton-Harris was named Chief Whip on February 8, 2022 after taking part in a shadow operation to whip up support amongst Tory MPs for Mr Johnson following the revelation of the Partygate Scandal in January 2022. He left the post in September to become Northern Ireland Secretary under Liz Truss.
Host Ridge turned the conversation to Partygate and asked Mr Heaton-Harris if he thought Boris was a man of integrity. "Yes, 100 per cent," was his reply.
