Chris Sutton was not happy with Gareth Southgate's handling of Harry Maguire's precarious position after his Hampden own goal howler - saying the England boss 'added fuel to the fire'.
Almost every football fan and pundit in the UK have had their say over Tuesday's incident, with the majority offering support to Maguire - including Southgate, who branded the treatment off the defender as 'ridiculous', despite understanding why Scotland fans heckled him every time he received the ball.
He told Mail Sport's 'It's All Kicking Off' podcast: "I don't think it was actually helped by the England manager coming out and trying to stick up for Harry Maguire by addressing the situation. He's added petrol onto the flames. "Some of it is over the top, let's get it right. What I would say is Maguire is a high-profile picture, England international and he has come under scrutiny over the last couple of seasons because he's lost his place at United.
