The new campaign asks drivers to “Show Some Love. Check Your Speed.”TACOMA, Wash. — The City of Tacoma launched a new driver safety campaign on Wednesday, asking drivers to curb their speeds across the city.
The campaign, with its slogan “Show some love. Check your speed,” is meant to encourage people to drive at or below 20 miles per hour near schools and on residential streets. Other areas of focus are neighborhoods that offer community assets and experience a high number of collisions, including the Lincoln International District, the 6th Avenue Business District and the Fern Hill neighborhood.
Residents who live in these areas can receive materials to display on their property, such as yard signs and flyers, that encourage drivers to slow down. One person is killed or seriously injured every five days as a result of traffic crashes in Tacoma, according to a news release.
