The City of Tucson said they are also working with the Tucson Police Department to address homeless-related crimes.
TUCSON, Ariz. — Paul Tomeh is a business owner in Tucson. He said he often has to deal with the houseless community using fentanyl and drugs around his business.
He said the City should be responding to issues involving the houseless community quicker and said the Tucson Police Department is underfunded. He said he believes that could be why there’s not enough officers to respond to crimes around his business. “More funding for the police, less worrisome about hey, we’re going to take these people and put them in houses. A lot of them don’t want to be in houses,” Tomeh suggested.
The Tucson Police Department said they’re hoping to reduce business related crimes and are working with business owners by removing encampments if there’s crime in them.
