Cleveland City Council approved the purchase of a new police boat at the regular meeting Monday night.
Council approved the purchase after the Division of Police received a Port Security grant totaling $625,592, according to council officials.
According to the council, an additional $156,400 is needed to complete the purchase, totaling the cost at $781,992. The new boat will be an upgrade over the current police boat, including current technology and equipment. Officials say the upgrades will increase their ability to respond to emerging threats and complement the capabilities of the federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.Body of Marine killed at Camp Lejeune returns to Lake County
