The U.S. Postal Service released a report Friday that said its employees here were involved in 58 incidents in 2021. That’s up from 46 the year before.

The incidents in the report include vicious attacks, nips and bites. Poston said the high numbers in Cleveland go beyond owners allowing their dogs to run free. He said the postal system in Cleveland suffers from a lack of staffing. “That becomes a problem because our letter carriers don’t always know where the dogs might be that cause problems,” Poston said.
In Ohio, Columbus tied with San Diego as the 11th highest city in the country, with 31 incidents. Toledo tied for 15th, with 27.
