Peter Duffy, 47, made the terrifying statement to his nephew, John Paul, just days before the bodies of his two victims were found in separate properties in the Lanarkshire town.

A Coatbridge double murderer told his nephew “I’ll be getting the jail soon” before killing his brother.

Police initially found John Paul’s dead cat in a pool of blood in the hallway as Peter Duffy slept on a sofa in the living room, next to the body of John Paul which had been hidden on another chair in the room. Two days later, on April 12, the body of girlfriend Emma Baillie was found at Duffy's home on Calder Street.

"Peter then came on the call and when I asked how he was, he said: 'I'm getting the jail soon'. He passed the phone back to my dad and dad just looked at me, shook his head and hung up.John Paul believes this call took place just hours before his dad was violently killed by his brother. He continued: “My dad’s headstone says he died on April 10, but that was only the day his body was found.

“Then when the judge sentenced him to 30 years he stood there shaking his head as if he was hard done by."
