Five people were killed and 18 injured when a gunman opened fire at an LGBT nightclub late Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo., police said.
Police received a phone call about the shooting at Club Q at around 11:57 p.m. local time, Lt. Pamela Castro said in a briefing to the media early Sunday. Police officers responded immediately and located an individual they believed to be the suspect inside the club, she said.“Club Q is devastated by the senseless attack on our community,” the club posted on its Facebook page. “We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack.”
